Being in the spotlight

March 24th, 2007

I miss going to church. I won’t get into why I’m not going lately, but it’s been a while now and I do miss it.

Specifically, I miss speaking at church and chairing services. I really liked that part of it. I’m not sure I can explain why. I mean, most people avoid putting themselves in the spotlight. Guess I’m not one of those people.

I think what I like about it is helping people find joy and self-understanding. Upliftment. Giving them a bright moment, sharing something personal or important. Perhaps part of it is giving back for the people who’ve said things that have profoundly impacted me and helped me on my healing journey.

Somehow writing about the things I’d talk about isn’t quite the same. But I might give it a shot, anyway. Because I feel like there are things inside me that I need to share because they’ll make sense to other people. And help them on their path. Help them see themselves and others around them more clearly and in the brighter light of God.

I would love to see you blog about these things. I too have not been going to church lately (great time to give it up – Lent :P ) and would characterize my current state of faith as a “spiritual dry spell.” Yet I feel I need to go back – I just need a “push” back in that direction, you know?
